Good morning all... this summer update is to advise you all that although the last update advised that the Annual General Meeting was likely to be the 4th July, it has now been re-arranged to Thursday the 25th July 2024 at St Andrews with a 7:30pm start. (We thought it best not to have the AGM on the same day as the General Election, and I believe there was at least one of the regular meeting attendees unavailable).

Please remember that the AGM is an open meeting for all members and so if you wish to raise any issues at all, then it's important that you attend and make yourself heard. If anyone would like to propose any rule changes, then please put them in writing to me by Thursday the 18th July 2024.

The likely matters/proposals under discussion will be:-

a) A proposed rule change to introduce Pro Cup 'white and yellow spotted' balls to replace the existing 'plain white and yellow' balls we currently use. Here is a link to show you what they look like - they are used in most billiard leagues now and in most competitions:-    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266729323112?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-153316-527457-8&mkcid=2&itemid=266729323112&targetid=4585375812880025&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=&poi=&campaignid=554609236&mkgroupid=1308419941753372&rlsatarget=pla-4585375812880025&abcId=9320693&merchantid=87779&msclkid=fcbf3204a08f131b4c4954737b7803a8

b) A proposed rule change to extend the rule about who plays whom in league matches i.e. that players names should be drawn from a hat, as opposed to the convention that we currently have, where the home team Captain chooses who plays whom. However, the home team Captain will still decide on the order of play.

c) A proposed rule change that deals with any postponed matches.

d) Another suggestion may be that a bonus point system is created for players/teams who score past a certain number of points.

If you cannot attend and need to raise something, then get a team-mate to do this on your behalf, or contact me before the meeting. Hope to see you there.

David Howarth
League Secretary
